Ostrich
The largest living bird, the flightless red-necked ostrich is named for its naked, pinkish-red neck, thighs, and feet. To escape danger, an ostrich will lie on the ground with its neck outstretched, a habit that may be the reason for the legend that the ostrich buries its head in the sand.
